    Timothy Walter Burton[a] (born August 25, 1958) is an American filmmaker and producer, Known for popularizing Goth culture in the American film industry, Burton is famous for his gothic horror and dark fantasy films. He has received numerous accolades including an Emmy Award as well as nominations for two Academy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and three BAFTA Awards. He was honored with the Venice International Film Festival's Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in 2007 and was given the Order of Arts and Letters by Culture Minister of France in 2010.

On this sci-fi comedy he played Chris Fuller, a likable but somewhat doltish young man oblivious to the fact that his love interest Evie had supernatural powers and communicated with her alien father via a talking box of light. During the 1987-1990 run of "Out of This World," Burton first made his mark on daytime TV with a 1988 role as Harris Michaels on NBC's "Days of Our Lives."
