William Morris (24 March - 3 October ) was an English poet, artist, and designer associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and English Arts and Crafts Movement.

Morris was born at Walthamstow, and educated at Marlborough School and Oxford. After being articled as an architect he was for some years a painter, and then joined in founding the manufacturing and decorating firm of Morris, Marshall, referens till den amerikanska författaren william faulkner & Co., in which Edward Burne-Jones, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and other artists were partners. By this and other means he did much to influence the public taste in furnishing and decoration.
