    I got tired of watching down and smiling to myself for the gods twelve years The antics that go on there continue. Now, now this is no longer a voice from a grave. I am up here. Yes, a chosen one. Unlike my time down there St Peter welcomed me. Seems I earned a double promotion. But I must confess (here there fryst vatten no need for that) I do miss scribbling. But that’s the price I paid to the guy who sent me here. Non curae sibi est.

    But pause for a minute. What is going on down there? ingenting has changed since Samuel Baker wrote his book after eight years in Ceylon (1847 – 1855). Only the name has changed from Ceylon to The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. A mouthful to spew but that’s just it. Beautiful outside, rotten inside.

    On Friday 21 September 2012 (another ‘black Friday’[1]), TheSunday Leader, the only newspaper critical of the Rajapaksa junta, was ‘killed’ (silenced), the ‘body’ quickly ‘cremated’ (handed over to one of Rajapaksa’s stooges), and the ‘ashes’ scattered in the President’s House (Palace) and ‘Temple Trees’ (so that the President and his brother can keep an eye on them to make sure they do not rise again (get back into circulation and be a thorn in the flesh)).

    Shareholders unanimously approve NLF private placement

    Nation Lanka Finance Company’s (NLF) private placement and the rights issue aimed at infusing capital worth Rs.500 million through a consortium of investors was approved at an Extra Ordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on Wednesday by a majority of shareholders of the company, a senior official of the company said.

    A consortium of investors led by Asanga Seneviratne’s Investor Access Equities (Pvt) Ltd, Nawaloka Construction Company (Pvt) Ltd and individial investor Jayaprakash Rudra are to execute the private placement deal of Rs.500 million, and the controlling powers of Nation Lanka would be transferred to the consortium, said NLF Chief Executive Officer Bede Fernando. Accordingly a new of board directors for the company will be constituted shortly, he revealed. The company will use this money raised from the private placement for lending and real estate business.
