Iâve watched Conan OâBrien through the years make fun of all things sacred (watch his NASCAR-loving, gun-toting Jesus character). Conanâs sketches are impudent but hilarious. Such irreverence also taught me to appreciate context. American comedians made fun of George W. Bush, their president for nine years, with fanatical resolve. If Manny Pacquiaoâs stature now makes him a target, even for second-tier comedians like Carolla, so be it. I donât equate Bush with Pacman. But like Bush, Pacquiao is sensational.
