The Ricky McCormick murder notes are two hand pr1nted documents found in the pants pockets of murder victim Ricky McCormick when his body was discovered in a field by sheriff’s officers in St. Louis, Missouri on June 30, 1999. The documents appear to be in some form of secret writing. On March 29, 2011, U.S. FBI issued an appeal for help from the public in obtaining the meaning of the messages. Despite extensive work by the FBI's Cryptanalysis and Racketeering Records Unit (CRRU), as well as help from the American Cryptogram Association, the meanings of those two coded notes remain a mystery up to that date and Ricky McCormick’s murderer had yet to face justice. According to the FBI, Ricky McCormick’s encrypted notes are one of CRRU’s top unsolved cases. “Breaking the code,” said CRRU chief Dan Olson, “could reveal the victim’s whereabouts before his death and could lead to the solution of a homicide. The partially decomposed body of Ricky McCormick was discovered in a field in St. Charles County, Missouri on June 30, 1999. Sheriffs found two garbled hand-written notes – apparently written in secret code – in the victim's pockets, and these were handed over to the FBI for further investigation. McCormick was high school drop-out who couldn’t find out any employment until his death at the age of 41. His death was reported as a murder. When his dead body was found out in 1999 June, he had collection of encrypted notes in his pocket. The American investigation team, FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), its wing Cryptanalysis and Racketeering Records Unit (CRRU) and the American Cryptogram Association were tried to decode the messages and finally in 2011, they would ask to public. The encryption is one of the top unsolved cases by CRRU and FBI believes decoding the message will help them to trace the murderer.
